In 1970, Erica was born into a family of artists and architects. Her great grandfather, Gutzon Borglum, and his son, Lincoln Borglum, were famous for sculpting Mt. Rushmore and many other works of art. She attended the University of Oregon, graduating with a degree in ceramics in 1993. Erica focused much of her early artistic career in Graphic Design. In 2006, Erica and her family moved to Flagstaff, AZ. There she began focusing on oil painting, opening Vhay Gallery in the following year.
