Trenton Higley
Born and raised in Kaysville, Utah, Trenton Higley spent his childhood summers traveling around Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho with his family surrounded by beautiful open country. An aspiring artist from an early age, it was this idyllic childhood that would deeply install in him a love of nature and rural life that continues to be the central focus of his life and art today.
Today, Trenton sees his work as a return to old values. Often painting outside, direct from life, his art speaks of a simple and honest way of life. The great teacher and american artist Robert Henri said: “Great works of art should look as though they were made in joy, real joy is tremendous”.
A number of landscapes and scenes are inspired by Trenton’s intimate relationship with nature and a passion for the outdoors. Higley says, “I’m interested in nature, and the emotional effect it can have. I paint because it makes me feel that I have a bit of nature in my life, which we all need. With my art comes the hope that I may try and save those things that really matter and leave my children a world where they can enjoy its simplicity.”
